Fuji Five Lakes Guide

As the symbol of pride for the Japanese, Mount Fuji not only represents Japan's beautiful natural scenery, but also contains a history and culture admired by the Japanese. It is a must-see place when traveling to Japan. The Fuji Five Lakes refers to the general name of the five lakes located in Yamanashi Prefecture around Mount Fuji. From east to west, they are Lake Yamanaka, Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Sai, Lake Shoji, and Lake Motosu. The area provides various recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and lakeside walks.

Here's a detailed introduction to each of the Fuji Five Lakes:

1. Lake Kawaguchi

Lake Kawaguchi is the most famous and easily accessible lake among the Fuji Five Lakes. It offers breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and is renowned for its iconic reflection of the mountain on the lake's surface. Visitors can take pleasure cruises on the lake, rent paddleboats, or explore the scenic walking trails around its shoreline. The lake is also home to various museums and attractions, including the Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum and the Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center.

2. Lake Yamanaka

Lake Yamanaka is the largest of the Fuji Five Lakes and is known for its tranquil atmosphere and natural beauty. It offers stunning views of Mount Fuji and is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and camping. Visitors can take pleasure boat rides, rent rowboats or canoes, or simply relax by the lakeside and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The lake also features the Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park, which showcases a wide variety of flowers and plants throughout the seasons.

3. Lake Sai

Lake Sai is the smallest of the Fuji Five Lakes but is equally charming. It is known for its clear blue waters and serene atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy activities such as fishing, boating, and lakeside picnics. The area around Lake Sai is also renowned for its beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, creating a picturesque backdrop for leisurely walks.

4. Lake Shoji

Lake Shoji is the smallest and least developed of the Fuji Five Lakes. It offers a more secluded and peaceful experience, with fewer crowds compared to other lakes. It is known for its rustic charm and natural beauty, surrounded by dense forests. Fishing and camping are popular activities here, and visitors can enjoy the tranquil ambiance while taking in views of Mount Fuji.

5. Lake Motosu

Lake Motosu is the deepest of the Fuji Five Lakes and is famous for its crystal-clear waters. It offers magnificent views of Mount Fuji and provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and camping. The lake is also a popular spot for photography, as its calm waters often provide mirror-like reflections of the surrounding scenery.

The Fuji Five Lakes collectively offer a remarkable setting for enjoying the beauty of Mount Fuji and the surrounding nature. Whether you're seeking relaxation, outdoor activities, or simply breathtaking views, a visit to the Fuji Five Lakes is a must for any traveler exploring the Mount Fuji region.

From the booking to payment of our tour Ms Linda was very accomodating. She assisted us all the way and was very prompt to answer all queries. And when we had the tour, our tour guide and driver was very punctual and helpful to our group of 13 pax. We will definitely recommend it to others that need the same service that we have.

We had a great 10 day vacation in Japan( from Osaka to Tokyo). With Celine and Diper tour’s assistance, everything went well. From Universal & Disneyland tickets to tourist spots & attraction, we really had no hassle and enjoy every place that we visited. Thank you very much Celine, very prompt to reply our emails and suggested what’s best for our tour. Special mention to Ian our tour guide driver in Tokyo who really speaks english well that also gave us some tips and backgrounds on places. All in all we had fun and had a great time. Again, thank you Celine so much and thanks to Diper tour that made our trip to Japan a memorable one.

DT offers a flexible and a convenient way for us to only go to places we want to go. Being a private tour, it allows us to customise and as such, see more places than conventional tours. We had a fuss free and enjoyable time in Japan, thanks to Abby and her ground crew. Our driver, Cavin was excellent throughout, very considerate and careful. He even went to the extent to make sure my wife only bought local Japanese biscuits n delicacies from local (cheaper n more variety) shops rather than from touristy shops. We travelled in comfortable and clean Toyota Alphard throughout our journey. They can get closer to certain sites which are surrounded by narrow roads or alleys. Abby was very patient and accommodating with our requests and changes. She ensures our entire journey went like clockwork. No hesitation in recommending Diper Tours. Thanks Abby
